So We Are Stuck Inside. Let's Cook Something Delicious

Those of us who are doing our part and self isolating in attempt to plank the curve of this Covid-19 virus may be going a bit stir crazy. I think this is the perfect time, when our lives have slowed, way down, to get our butts in the kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity to get creative, to try new dishes, flavours, and/or new ingredients. We have been given this gift of time and space to actually cook, rather than just stuff food in our faces while on the run, going about our daily lives.

Happy National Chia Day!!

This mighty little seed is considered a super food and for good reason. It is high in many of the B vitamins, fibre and omega 3. Chia seeds also contains minerals including calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, phosphorus and zinc, all of which are needed for a healthy body. The chia seed can absorb up to 12X its weight in liquid, creating a gelatinous texture. Which is perfect for replacing an egg in a recipe for any vegan friends you may have.

I have seen a few funny memes about finally noticing your family members since there is no more sports on! I love that in the middle of a pandemic we can still find some humour in the situation.

A fantastic Quote

We, are biochemically very different and our bodies need nutrients in different amounts. That’s why partnering up with a nutritionist can help.

Keto and Paleo Diets: Why I Hate Them.

I understand what we eat day in and day out is VERY personal. It is not just fuel for our bodies, it is so much more complex than that. Food is tied to emotion, to comfort, to memories and so much more. I understand, it can be confusing with so much conflicting information about diet and nutrition that it’s overwhelming. I try very hard to not allow the words “You should eat ….” come out of my mouth if unsolicited.
